TONDO, MANILA ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) led by its Chairman Rene R. Escalante, will unveil the historical marker “Timoteo Paez (1861-1939)”, at 8:00 a.m. in Balut, Tondo, Manila on 22 August 2022. The marker states:

KABILANG SA MGA NAGTATAG NG LOGIA NILAD, 6 ENERO 1892; AT LA LIGA FILIPINA, 3 HULYO 1892. SUMAPI SA CUERPO DE COMPROMISARIOS AT TUMULONG MANGALAP NG PONDO PARA SA KILUSANG REPORMISTA SA EUROPA, 1894. IBINILANGGO NG MGA ESPANYOL DAHIL SA PAGKASANGKOT SA HIMAGSIKAN, 1896. HINIRANG NI HEN. EMILIO AGUINALDO BILANG KOMISARYO NG DIGMAAN SA ILALIM NG PAMAHALAANG REBOLUSYONARYO. Chairman Escalante will officially turn over the marker to Department of Education-Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Magdalena S. Lim, CESO V. Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Antonio C. Casangkapan and NHCP OIC-Exec. Dir. Carminda R. Arevalo will stand as witnesses during the signing of the certificate of transfer.

Schools Division Superintendent Lim will deliver her acceptance message after the signing of the certificate of transfer.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Vice Mayor Yul Servo-Nieto will also deliver their inspirational messages.

The program will also include a wreath-laying rites to be participated in by guests, teachers, and Timoteo Paez School alumni to be followed by a skit performance depicting the life of Timoteo Paez by the Dulaang Tobias with its director, Mr. Jonathan S. Oraño.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
