Batangas – In commemoration of the 153rd Birth Anniversary of Apolinario Mabini, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) in coordination with the Tribung Pilipino Foundation and the Department of Education (DepEd) held the Paligsahan sa Kasaysayan on 20 July 2017 at Dolor Farm House, Lipa City, Batangas.

High school students from the province of Batangas participated in the history quiz.  Questions dealt on the life and works of Apolinario Mabini, Philippine history and culture.

Winners were as follows:  Kristina Cassandra A. Bisccocho from Maabud National High School (1st prize), Jasmine Mae M. Panganiban from Dacanlao G. Agoncillo National High School (2nd prize), and Celine Joanne M. Avena from Balayan National High School (3rd prize).

Al-John S.Ilagono (Lucsuhin National High School), Aaron Kristoffer A. Aala (Batangas Province Science High School), Angelou F. Benamer (Maabud National High School), Roland Oliver A. Calabia (Maabud National High School), received the consolation prizes.

Tribung Pinoy Foundation Chairman Danny L. Dolor delivered the opening remarks while DepEd Batangas City Education Program Supervisor Dr. Epitacio Abela presented the participants.  DepEd Batangas Province Education Program Supervisor Dr. Rolando S. Casanova explained the contest mechanics.  NHCP Historic Sites and Education Division Chief, Gina C. Batuhan served as quizmaster.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums and publications, and preserve the nation’s historical heritage.
