Kawit, Cavite – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines with the Local Government of Kawit led the simple rites in commemoration of the 58th death anniversary of Emilio Aguinaldo on 6 February 2022, 8:00 a.m. at Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo.

Kawit Mayor Angelo Emilio G. Aguinaldo led the flag raising and wreath-laying ceremony. Other wreath offerors were National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) OIC-Deputy Executive Director Alvin R. Alcid, Kawit Vice Mayor Arman Bernal, Cavite PPO Provincial Director PCol Arnold Evangelista Abad, Kawit Tourist Police Unit Chief PLTCOL Nerwin Monterey Ricohermoso, Philippine National Police (PNP) Kawit Chief PMAJ Lyman O San Juan, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Kawit Chief SINSP Armand Lee M Andres, and Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office Head Elinia Imelda Rozelle Sangalang.

One of the highlights of the event was the blessing of the tomb of Emilio Aguinaldo officiated by Rev. Fr. Paul J. Marquez.

The commemorative event was limited only to a few attendees as a countermeasure to contain the spread of the virus. The public was highly invited to visit the NHCP website and official Facebook page for the details of the event. 

Emilio Aguinaldo was born on 22 March 1869 in Kawit, Cavite to parents Carlos Aguinaldo and Trinidad Famy-Aguinaldo. He became a gobernardocillo capitan municipal and a Freemason at the age of 25. Aguinaldo also joined the Katipunan and became the first president of the First Philippine Republic.
