Kawit, Cavite – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines with the Local Government of Kawit will lead the simple rites in commemoration of the 107th death anniversary of Baldomero Aguinaldo on 4 February 2022, 8:00 a.m. at Museo ni Baldomero Aguinaldo.

Kawit Mayor Angelo Emilio G. Aguinaldo will lead the flag raising and wreath-laying rites. He will be joined by NHCP – Museo ni Baldomero Aguinaldo Shrine Curator Ahzel Miral and staff of the Museo ni Baldomero Aguinaldo.

Very Rev. Fr. Cedric R. Mendez will officiate the blessing of the tomb of Baldomero Aguinaldo.

The commemorative event will be limited only to a few attendees as a countermeasure to contain the spread of the virus. The public is highly invited to visit the NHCP website and official Facebook page for the details of the event. 

Baldomero Aguinaldo, first cousin of Emilio Aguinaldo, was born on 27 February 1869, to parents Cipriano Aguinaldo and Silveria Baloy in Kawit, Cavite. A graduate of law and a farmer by nature, Baldomero Aguinaldo along with Emilio Aguinaldo, Candido and Daniel Tirona established the Katipunan’s Magdalo Council and became its president. He also became the Secretary of the Treasury of the Biak-na-Bato, and Secretary of War and Public Works of the First Philippine Republic. After the Philippine-American War, Aguinaldo pursued a private life and died on 4 February 1915. His remains were interred at Manila North Cemetery and was later exhumed and brought to his home in Kawit, Cavite.
