Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea will lead the flag raising and wreath-laying ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Libingan ng mga Bayani, Taguig City on 30 August 2021, 8:00 a.m. in observance of National Heroes Day with the theme, ““Kabayanihan ng Bawat Pilipino, Susi sa Tagumpay at Pagkamakatao” (Heroism of Each Filipino, Key to Victory and Humanity).

He will be assisted by National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Chairman Rene R. Escalante, Taguig Mayor Edgardo Lino S. Cayetano, and Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) Administrator Ernesto G. Carolina. A virtual message from President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will follow after the wreath-laying rites.

One of the highlights of the event is the viewing of the exhibit, “Mga Mukha ng Kabayanihan sa Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig (Faces of Heroism in the Second World War)” that features Filipino heroes during World War II and their contributions to the country’s freedom.

The simple event will have minimal attendees, adhering to the prescribed health standards/guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
