ROXAS CITY, CAPIZ ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) led by its OIC-Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo, will unveil the historical marker Kapitolyo ng Capiz on 22 April 2022, 4:30 p.m. in Roxas City, Capiz. The marker states:
KAPITOLYO NG CAPIZ
IPINATAYO NA YARI SA KAHOY. IPINAAYOS NI SIMPLICIO JUGO VIDAL, UNANG GOBERNADOR NG CAPIZ, 1901-1903. DULOT NG MALAKAS NA BAGYO, MULING IPINAAYOS NA YARI SA KONGKRETO SA PANUNUNGKULAN NI GOB. JOSE CORTEZ ALTAVAS, AT NATAPOS 1911. IDINAGDAG ANG IKATLONG PALAPAG, 1945-1949. PINANATILI ANG DISENYONG AGILA NA NAKAUKIT SA HARAPAN NG GUSALI BILANG SAGISAG NG UGNAYAN NG PILIPINAS AT ESTADOS UNIDOS SA ILALIM NG REHIMENG AMERIKANO.
OIC-Executive Director Arevalo will officially turn over the marker to Capiz Governor Esteban Evan B. Contreras. Mr. Alphonsus D. Tesoro, Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer and NHCP Chief Restoration Architect Ar. Reynaldo S. Lita will stand as witnesses during the signing of the certificate of transfer.
Governor Contreras will deliver his acceptance message after the signing of the certificate of transfer.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
