SIBUTU, TAWI-TAWI ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) led by Chairman Emmanuel Franco Calairo PhD, will unveil the historical marker, “Burial Site of Sheik Karimol-Makhdum in Sibutu, Tawi-Tawi” on 6 November 2023, 2:00 p.m. The marker states: 

BURIAL SITE OF SHEIK KARIMOL-MAKHDUM
IN SIBUTU, TAWI-TAWI 

            DECLARED AS A NATIONAL SHRINE BY VIRTUE OF BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 6 ON 23 SEPTEMBER 1993 OF THE NATIONAL HISTORICAL INSTITUTE, NOW THE NATIONAL HISTORICAL COMMISSION OF THE PHILIPPINES. 

Chairman Calairo will officially turn over the marker to Sibutu Mayor Nur Fitra P. Ahaja. NHCP Deputy Executive Director Alvin R. Alcid will witness the signing of the certificate of transfer. The acceptance message will be delivered by Mayor Ahaja after the signing.

Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Undersecretary Margaux Salcedo will spearhead the distribution of school supplies to students of Sibutu, assisted by Chairman Calairo and Mayor Ahaja.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine history through its museums, research and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation, and marking of historic sites and structures.
