NAGA CITY, CAMARINES SUR—The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) chaired by Dr. Rene R. Escalante will open the Museo ni Jesse Robredo in Naga City, Camarines Sur with Vice-President of the Republic of the Philippines Maria Leonor G. Robredo as guest of honor on 18 August 2017 at 9:30 a.m. Naga City Mayor John G. Bongat will deliver the Welcome Remarks, while former Secretary of the Department of Budget and Management, Atty. Florencio B. Abad, will provide the inspirational message.
The Museo ni Jesse Robredo pays tribute to the exemplary life and legacy of good governance of the late Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary. The new museum aims to inspire every Filipino to courageously take the mantle of leadership and do what he or she can to make the country better. The museum has four galleries filled with Secretary Robredo’s personal items, with informative displays and interactive features. It also boasts of a resource center on Philippine history, as well as an auditorium, café, and souvenir shop.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine history and historical heritage through research and publication, conservation, marking of historic sites and structures, and administration of national shrines and museums.
