SIMUNUL, TAWI-TAWI ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) led by Chairman Emmanuel Franco Calairo, will unveil the historical marker, “Sheik Karimol-Makhdum Mosque in Tubig-Indangan, Simunul, Tawi-Tawi” on 7 November 2023, 8:00 a.m. The marker states:

 

SHEIK KARIMOL-MAKHDUM MOSQUE IN TUBIG-INDANGAN, SIMUNUL, TAWI-TAWI

DECLARED AS A NATIONAL HISTORICAL LANDMARK BY VIRTUE OF BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 4 ON 13 AUGUST 1998 OF THE NATIONAL HISTORICAL INSTITUTE, NOW THE NATIONAL HISTORICAL COMMISSION OF THE PHILIPPINES AND REPUBLIC ACT 10573 OF 24 MAY 2013.

 

Chairman Calairo will officially turn over the marker to Simunul Mayor Wasilah T. Abdurahman. Witnessing the signing of the certificate of transfer is NHCP Deputy Executive Director Alvin R. Alcid.

Mayor Abdurahman will be delivering her acceptance message after and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman will also give a speech.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
