MARAWI CITY, 20 OCTOBER 2023 – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) closed Day 3 of its LGU Training on History and Heritage at the Marawi Resort Hotel, Mindanao State University Main Campus, Marawi City on 19 October 2023. The last day included an introduction to the National Memory Project (www.memory.nhcp.gov.ph), and lectures on Basic Heritage Structure and Object Conservation.
The training ended with a workshop where participants from across the BARMM crafted their local history and heritage action plans, identifying local issues they would like to address and plotting out necessary steps and timetable needed to resolve them. To close the program, both NHCP Chairman Dr. Emmanuel Franco Calairo and Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH) Chair Dr. Salem Y. Lingasa committed to working together in strengthening and mainstreaming Bangsamoro history in the national narrative and reminded the participants of their duty and responsibility in writing and promoting their own histories for the benefit of future generations.
The NHCP also gave copies of its publications to the BCPCH, MSU Department of History and MSU Aga Khan Museum. The NHCP thanks its partners – the MSU System and the BCPCH for their invaluable contribution to making this training possible, as well as to the Marawi Resort Hotel for hosting the three-day event. The NHCP also thanks the Armed Forces of the Philippines, especially the 1602nd CDC of the Army Reserve Command, for their assistance and support during the program.
The LGU Training on History and Heritage is one of the NHCP’s flagship programs that highlights our commitment to bringing our history and heritage closer to the people in pursuit of our mandate of strengthening the people’s nationalism through the promotion of our history.
