MANILA ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) will lead the celebration of History Month in August 2025 with the theme “Diwa ng Kasaysayan, Kabilin sa Kabataan” (Spirit of History, Heritage for the Youth).
Opening History Month is the event, History to Experience (HistoEx) on 1 August 2025 to be held at the Quantum Skyview, Gateway 2, Cubao, Quezon City. The festive exposition featuring booths, games, and fun activities, will last until 3 August. The 127th anniversary of the Bacoor Assembly in Bacoor, Cavite and the 81st death anniversary of Manuel L. Quezon in Quezon City will also be commemorated on 1 August.
Other major activities will also include the GSIS Historians Fair, Oriang@150 Women Talks, the General Assembly of the Local Historical Committees Network, and the National Conference on Local History and Heritage. Workshops to be offered include Manalaysay in Cotabato City, skilLokal Luzon in Makati City, and the Conservation Goes to the Province in Misamis Oriental. Activities such as lectures, exhibits, and workshops are also being organized in various NHCP history museums.
Commemorative rites will also be held for National Heroes Day, the anniversary of the Battle of San Juan del Monte, the birth anniversaries of Manuel L. Quezon, Marcelo H. del Pilar and Ramon Magsaysay, the death anniversaries of Jesse Robredo and Ninoy Aquino, and other significant anniversaries. August was designated as History Month through Proclamation No. 339 signed by President Benigno S. Aquino III on 16 February 2012. Local governments and civic organizations are encouraged to organize meaningful celebrations.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
