DASMARIÑAS CITY, CAVITE – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), in its capacity as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee for the Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day, will launch the 2023 Amistad Duradera Lecture Series with the Cavite Studies Center-De La Salle University Dasmariñas (CSC-DLSUD) on 27 September 2023, 9:00 AM, at the Teatro Julian Felipe, De La Salle University Dasmariñas.  

The Amistad Duradera Lectures is a project in line with the Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day commemorations, that will bring to the various regions and provinces of the country the stories of Philippine-Spanish ties in our history and culture. This project is also in partnership with the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines and is in solidarity with the Local Historical Committees Network. For 2023, the NHCP has partnered with three higher education institutions in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to bring our history closer to the localities.   

For Part 1 of the 2023 Lectures, the CSC-DLSUD and the NHCP focused on the Philippine contributions to Spanish Economic Development from the 17th-19th Century. NHCP Chairman Dr. Emmanuel Franco Calairo, DLSUD Vice Chancellor for Academics and Research Dr. Cristina C. Salibay, and Embassy of Spain in the Philippines First Secretary Mr. Alvaro Garcia Moreno, will give opening and inspirational messages during the program.  

The NHCP is the principal government agency mandated with promoting Philippine history and protecting our cultural heritage.
