HAMTIC, ANTIQUE ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) together with the Provincial Government of Antique and the Local Government of Hamtic, Antique will conduct a symposium and booklet launching on the life of General Leandro L. Fullon on 12 March 2024, Tuesday 8:00 a.m. at the Old Capitol Building Conference Hall, San Jose de Buenavista and commemoration of his 150th birth anniversary at the National Shrine of General Leandro L. Fullon in Hamtic, Antique on 13 March 2024, Wednesday, 8:00 a.m.
With the theme ‘150 taon ng Paggunita at Pagpapahalaga sa Kagitingan, Kadakilaan at Kabayanihan ng Lahing Antikenyo’ the milestone celebration highlights Gen. Fullon’s role as a Filipino general and government administrator who fought against Spain during the Philippine Revolution and the United States during the Philippine-American War. He also led the expeditionary forces to Panay and later established a revolutionary Provincial Government in Antique, later becoming the first Filipino Governor of the province from 1901-1904.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
