QUEZON CITY ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) will commemorate the 75th death anniversary of former First Lady Aurora Aragon-Quezon on Sunday, 28 April 2024, at the NHCP Museo ni Manuel Quezon, Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City.

A mass will be celebrated at 8:00 am. The Girl Scouts of the Philippines and the National Federation of Women’s Clubs in the Philippines will participate in the short program that follows the blessing of her tomb.

Rare photographs of the former First Lady are also exhibited in the museum to mark the occasion. These will join the other objects she owned, which are on permanent display.

Aragon Quezon used her influence as First Lady to serve the less privileged. She became instrumental in reestablishing the Philippine Red Cross in 1947. Unfortunately, she was killed by suspected members of the Hukbalahap in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija while en route to Baler, Aurora. Her daughter Maria Aurora “Baby” Quezon, son-in-law Felipe Buencamino Jr., Quezon City Mayor Ponciano Bernardo, and other members of their party also died.

The NHCP is the principal government agency mandated with strengthening our people’s nationalism through the promotion of Philippine history and the protection of our cultural heritage.
