MAGDALENA, LAGUNA ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) led by its Acting Executive Director Ludovico D. Badoy, will unveil the historical marker and turn over the completed restoration project for Simbahan ng Magdalena on Tuesday, 11 December 2018, 9:00 a.m. in Magdalena, Laguna. The marker states:

ITINAYO ANG UNANG SIMBAHAN AT KUMBENTO YARI SA KAHOY AT KOGON SA PATRONATO NI SANTA MARIA MAGDALENA, 1820. SINIMULANG ITAYO ANG KASALUKUYANG SIMBAHAN YARI SA ADOBE, 1829. NATAPOS ANG PANAHON NI PADRE JUAN ALFONSO, 1855. ITINAYO ANG KUMBENTO, 1871-1872. NAPINSALA NG LINDOL, 1880 AT MULING NAISAAYOS SA PAHINTULOT NI ARSOBISPO PEDRO PAYO, 1881-1882. DITO PANSAMANTALANG INIHIMPIL SI EMILIO JACINTO MATAPOS LUBHANG MASUGATAN SA LABANAN NG MAIMPIS, BAYAN NG MAGDALENA, PEBRERO 1898.

 

Acting Executive Director Badoy will officially turn over the marker to the Diocese of San Pablo through Most Rev. Buenaventura M. Famadico, D.D.  Magdalena Mayor David O. Aventurado, Jr., Rev. Fr. Andres V. Olasco, Jr. and Archt. Reynaldo S. Lita, NHCP Chief Historic Preservation Division will stand as witnesses during the signing of the certificate of transfer.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
