POLANGUI, ALBAY ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) led by its Commissioner and Chairman Dr. Rene R. Escalante, will unveil on Tuesday, 7  March 2017 at 9:00 a.m., the historical marker Camilo Jacob. The marker states:

REBOLUSYONARYO AT ISA SA QUINCE MARTIRES NG BIKOL. ISINILANG SA POLANGUI, ALBAY, KALAGITNAAN NG IKA-19 NA SIGLO. NAGING KASAPI NG TRIANGULO, BIKOL, ISANG MASONERIYA SA CAMARINES NA NAGHANGAD NA MAPABUTI ANG KALAGAYAN NG BAYAN. DINAKIP AT NILITIS NG KORTE MILITAR DAHIL SA BINTANG NA REBELYON, 29 DISYEMBRE 1896.  BINARIL SA BAGUMBAYAN KASAMA ANG IBA PANG MGA BIKOLANONG NAHATULANG REBELDE NG MGA ESPANYOL, 4 ENERO 1897.

 

Chairman Rene R. Escalante will officially turn over the marker to the Municipal Government of Polangui, Albay through Mayor Cherilie Mella Sampal. Tourism Officer Imma Santaya and NHCP Deputy Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo will stand as witnesses during the signing of the certificate of transfer.

Albay Governor Francis C. Bichara will give the inspirational message while Albay Congressmen Joey Sarte Salceda of District 2 and Fernando Gonzales of District 3 will deliver messages during the occasion.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine history through its museums, research and publication, and preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
