BATAAN – Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo M. Año representing President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, will lead the nation in the observance of the Araw ng Kagitingan rites at Mt. Samat National Shrine, Pilar, Bataan on 9 April 2019 at 9:00 in the morning. This year’s theme is Sakripisyo ng Beterano ay Gunitain, Gawing Tanglaw ng Kabataan Tungo sa Kaunlaran.
Secretary Año will be joined by Ambassador of Japan Koji Haneda and Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States of America John Law in the wreath-laying rites.
Bataan Governor Albert S. Garcia will deliver the welcome remarks while messages will be delivered by Ambassador Haneda and Mr. Law.
Secretary Año will award the winners of the National Creative Painting, Essay Writing, and the Oratorical Contests. He will be assisted by Department of Education Secretary Leonor M. Briones, Department of National Defense-Undersecretary for Civil, Veterans and Retiree Affairs Reynaldo B. Mapagu, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office Administrator Ernesto G. Carolina, and President of the Veterans Federation of the Philippines Justice Manuel Pamaran.
Department of National Defense Undersecretary for Civil, Veterans and Retiree affairs, Reynaldo B. Mapagu will introduce Secretary Año who will deliver the keynote address.
Last part of the program will be the viewing of the Mt. Samat Development Scale Model and Augmented Reality Project for the Underground Museum.
