The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Bulacan and the Municipal Government of Bulakan spearheaded the 166th birth anniversary of Marcelo H. Del Pilar on 30 August 2016, 8:00 a.m. at the Museo ni Marcelo H. Del Pilar, San Nicolas, Bulakan, Bulacan.

The commemoration begun with a civic parade at 5:30 a.m.  Commemorative program immediately followed with flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies headed by Department of Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato T. Dela Peña, Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Bulakan Municipal Mayor Patrick F. Meneses, NHCP Chief of the Commemoration and Museum Division Gina C. Batuhan, and other local officials from the Municipal Government of Bulakan and Provincial Government of Bulacan.   Accompanying them is Grand Master Voltaire T. Gazmin from the Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines.

Mayor Meneses welcomed the guests and participants during the program while Mrs. Batuhan led the awarding of winners for the Essay Writing Contest in line with the celebration of History Month.  Bulacan Governor Alvarado delivered a short message and introduced Secretary Fortunato T. Dela Peña who gave his message.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research and publication, and preserve the nation’s historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
