Baler, Aurora – Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco and Embassy of Spain to the Philippines Ambassador Jorge Moragas Sanchez will lead the flag-raising and wreath-laying rites of the 123rd anniversary of the Historic Siege of Baler and the 20th anniversary of the Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day on 9 July 2022, 9:00 a.m. in front of the San Luis Church, Baler, Aurora.
DOT Secretary Frasco and Spanish Ambassador Moragas will be joined by National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Chairman Rene R. Escalante with Senator Juan Edgardo Angara, Aurora Representative Rommel T. Angara, Representative Vincent Franco D. Frasco, Aurora Governor Christian M. Noveras, Baler Municipal Mayor Rhett Ronan T. Angara, and other government officials and personnel.
Part II of the program will be the messages to be delivered by Mayor Angara for the welcome remarks, and key messages of Ambassador Sanchez and DOT Secretary Frasco, and the closing remarks of Senator Angara.
The commemoration of Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day, originally slated to be celebrated every 30 June, was moved to 9 July to give way for the inauguration of the newly-elected officials.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine historical heritage through research and publication, conservation, marking of historic sites and structures, and administration of national shrines and museums.
