Baler, Aurora – The 122nd anniversary of the Historic Siege of Baler and the 19th anniversary of Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day will be commemorated with a simple program on 30 June 2021, 8:00 a.m. in front of the San Luis Church, Baler, Aurora.

The commemorative program will be led by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), in coordination with the Office of Senator Juan Edgardo M. Angara, Embassy of Spain, Municipal Government of Baler, and other national and local government agencies.

Part I will be the wreath-laying ceremony to be officiated by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). It will be led by Lone District of Aurora Representative Rommel Rico T. Angara and Embassy of Spain to the Philippines Ambassador Jorge Moragas Sanchez. They will be joined by National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Chairman Rene R. Escalante to be witnessed by Aurora Governor Gerardo A. Noveras, Baler Municipal Mayor Rhett Ronan T. Angara and Department of Foreign Affairs Deputy Assistant Secretary Pablito A. Mendoza.

Part II of the program will be the messages to be delivered by Mayor Angara for the welcome remarks, inspirational messages of NHCP Chairman Escalante and DFA Dep. Assist. Secretary Mendoza, and key messages of Ambassador Sanchez and Senator Angara and the closing remarks of Governor Noveras.

Due to the viral pandemic, the commemorative event will have minimal attendees in compliance to the health guidelines set by the Inter-agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).
