Taal Mayor Fulgencio Mercado is guest of honor in the commemoration of the 156th birth anniversary of Leon Apacible


Taal Municipal Mayor Fulgencio Mercado will lead the wreath-laying rites in observance of the 156th birth anniversary of Leon Apacible on 25 October 2017, 8:00 a.m., at the Museo nina Leon at Galicano Apacible, in Taal, Batangas.

He will be joined by Batangas Governor Hermilando I. Mandanas, National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP)-Chief of the Historic Sites and Education Division Ms. Gina C. Batuhan, Department of Education Division Superintendent Dr. Lolita G. Martin, and Ms. Melanie Anne Cañiza Alcantara, a descendant of Leon Apacible.

Governor Mandanas and Mayor Mercado will deliver messages while Ms. Alcantara will give the response.

Apacible was assigned judge of the Court of First Instance of Batangas City and was a delegate to the Malolos Congress. He fought in Batangas during the 1896 revolution.

This year’s commemorative program is spearheaded by the NHCP in coordination with the Provincial Government of Batangas and Municipal Government of Taal.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums and publications, and preserve the nation’s historical heritage.
