Kawit, Cavite – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and the Local Government of Kawit, Cavite will conduct a flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony in commemoration of the 153rd birth anniversary of Baldomero Aguinaldo with Kawit Mayor Angelo Emilio G. Aguinaldo leading the ceremony at the Museo ni Baldomero Aguinaldo on 27 February 2022, 8:00 a.m.
Other wreath offerors in the event are Sangguniang Bayan ng Kawit, National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Museo ni Baldomero Aguinaldo Shrine Curator Ahzel P. Miral, Department of Education-Kawit (DepED) District Supervisor Helen C. Aure, Ph.D., Association of Barangay Captains President Mr. Alvin Bunag, Descendant of Baldomero Aguinaldo Former Prime Minister Cesar Enrique A. Virata, Philippine National Police-Kawit (PNP) Chief PMAJ Lyman O San Juan, and Tourist Police Unit Chief PLTCOL Nerwin Monterey Ricohermoso.
The program is highlighted by the blessing of Baldomero Aguinaldo’s tomb to be officiated by Very Rev. Fr. Cedric Mendez after the wreath-laying rites.
Baldomero Aguinaldo was born on 27 February 1869, to parents Cipriano Aguinaldo and Silveria Baloy in Kawit, Cavite. Baldomero Aguinaldo became a member of the Katipunan and served as president of the Katipunan’s Magdalo Council. He also became the Secretary of the Treasury of the Biak-na-Bato in 1897, and Secretary of War and Public Works of the First Philippine Republic from 1898-1899, and became a leading general of South Luzon during the Philippine-American War in 1899.
