Rizal Park, Manila – The National Historical Commission of the Philippine (NHCP), in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Embassy of the United States to the Philippines, and other government agencies, will lead the commemoration of the 75th anniversaries of the Inauguration of the Third Philippine Republic and Philippine-United States Diplomatic Relations on 4 July 2021, 8:00 a.m. at the Independence Flag Pole, Rizal Park, Manila.

Solemn ceremonial rites will be conducted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The national anthems of the Republic of the Philippines and United States of America will be played in honor of the long diplomatic ties of the two countries. The wreath-laying ceremony will be led by the DFA Undersecretary for Strategic Communications and Research Ernesto C. Abella and the Embassy of the United States of America to the Philippines Charge d’Affaires Mr. John Law. They will be joined by National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Chairman Rene R. Escalante and to be witnessed by National Parks Development Committee (NPDC) Deputy Executive Director Jezreel A. Apelar, National Archives of the Philippines (NAP) Executive Director Victorino Mapa Manalo, National Library of the Philippines (NLP) Director Cesar Gilbert Q. Adriano and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) Postmaster General and CEO Norman N. Fulgencio.  

NHCP Chairman Escalante will give the welcome remarks. Charge d’Affaires John Law and Usec. Abella will deliver their messages respectively. PhilPost Postmaster General and CEO Fulgencio will present the commemorative stamp to the Embassy of the United States, DFA, City of Manila, NHCP, and NPDC. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will give his virtual message.

Due to the viral pandemic, the commemorative event will have minimal attendees in compliance to the health guidelines set by the Inter-agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).
