EDSA, Quezon City – Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo M. Año will lead the flag raising and wreath-laying ceremonies at the EDSA People Power Monument, Quezon City on 25 February 2022, 8:00 a.m. in commemoration of the 36th anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution with the theme, “EDSA 2022: Pagtutulungan sa Sama-samang Pagbangon Mula sa Pandemya.”

The commemorative program is led by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), in coordination with the EDSA People Power Commission (EPPC), Spirit of EDSA Foundation (SOEF), and other national and local government agencies.

NHCP and EPPC Chairman Rene R. Escalante will join DILG Secretary Año in the wreath-laying ceremony. Other wreath offerors are Quezon City Mayor Ma. Josefina “Joy” Belmonte, and EPPC Commissioner Christopher Carrion with Retired General Antonio Sotelo, and Chino Roces Foundation Consul Fernando Peña. Representatives from other national government and non-government agencies will also grace the simple event which will have minimal attendees, as a countermeasure to contain the spread of the virus.

The NHCP will sponsor an online exhibit titled, “EDSA People Power Revolution: A Nationwide Phenomenon” featuring the events that took place from 22-25 February 1986.  For the details of this online exhibit, you may visit the NHCP website www.nhcp.gov.ph.
