Kawit, Cavite – The Committee on the Observance of Aguinaldo@150, led by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), will commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Emilio Aguinaldo on 22 March 2019, 8:00 a.m., at the Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine, Kawit, Cavite with the theme “Kalayaan at Kasarinlan.”

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei B. Nograles, representing President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, will lead the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies in honor of the first president of the first constitutional republic in Asia. He will be joined by NHCP Chairman Rene R. Escalante, NHCP Acting Executive Director Ludovico D. Badoy, Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin C. Remulla, and Kawit Municipal Mayor Angelo Emilio Aguinaldo.

Highlights of the program include the launching of the Aguinaldo@150 commemorative stamp by the Philippine Postal Corporation, represented by Chairman Norman N. Fulgencio, and the commemorative coin by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, represented by Director Catherine Pinky Regala. 

The NHCP will also conduct other activities for the sesquicentennial birth anniversary of Emilio Aguinaldo namely:

  • International Conference on Aguinaldo@150 on 19-21 March 2019, at the Lyceum of the Philippines, Gen. Trias Cavite;
  • Reminiscence Aguinaldo@150 Lecture Series on 29-30 March 2019, at the Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo, Kawit, Cavite;
  • Aguinaldo sa Klasrum on 22 March 2019, in selected schools in Taal, Batangas; and
  • Miong sa Gunita ni Quezon on 30 March 2019, at the Museo ni Manuel Quezon.
