Natonin, Mountain Province | 25 June 1963 | E.O. 42 s. of 1963 |
In the 1918 Census of the Philippine Islands, Natonin was classified as a township of the sub-province of Bontoc. Act No. 2711 or the 1917 Administrative Code of the Philippines, enacted on 10 March 1917, and the 1920 Report of the Governor-General of the Philippine Islands, cited Natonin as a municipal district.
Nonetheless, as indicated in Chapter 1, Article I, Section 2 of Act No. 2711, the term “municipality” refers to a municipality proper and does not include a township or municipal district. During the American Period, certain areas were designated as municipal districts before becoming actual municipalities.
Natonin was elevated to the status of a municipality by virtue of Executive Order No. 42, enacted on 25 June 1963.
