The Municipality of Moncada, Tarlac was established by virtue of a decree issued by Acting Governor General Manuel Blanco Valderrama on 1 May 1874 in response to the request of the principalia of Barrio San Ramon and recommendations from the religious and administrative officials of Pangasinan. Then part of the pueblo of Paniqui, Barrio San Ramon was separated from the town of Paniqui and became the independent town of Moncada as stated in the document Erección del Pueblos Tarlac 1845-1893, Bundle 203.
