Kiblawan was formed out of the Barrios Bagumbayan, Paitan, Kiblawan, Kibungbung, Manual, New Sibonga, Maraga-a, Ihan, Bunot, Latian, Balasiao, Apik, and Dapok, and Sitios Guminom, Cogon, Bakaka, Pukaliil, Gucamlot, Pulatana, and Daan Mali, all in the Municipality of Sulop, in Davao, through Republic Act No. 4748, which took effect upon its approval on 18 June 1966.
