BIÑAN, LAGUNA ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) led by its Chairman Rene R. Escalante, will unveil on Friday, 11 May 2018 at 8:00 a.m., the historical marker Francisco Mercado at the Francisco Mercado Monument, Binan Plaza, Laguna, in line with his 200th birth anniversary. The marker reads:

LUMIPAT SA CALAMBA NG BUKSAN NG MGA DOMINIKANO ANG MGA LUPAIN DITO SA MGA NAIS MANGUPAHAN NG LUPA, MGA TAONG 1830-1840. IKINASAL KAY TEODORA ALONSO, 1848. Chairman Escalante will officially turn over the marker to the City Government of Biñan through Mayor Walfredo R. Dimaguila, Jr. City Department Head Bryan Jayson T. Borja and NHCP Executive Director Ludovico D. Badoy will stand as witnesses during the signing of the certificate of transfer.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine history through its museums, research and publication, and preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
