The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Acting Chair and Commissioner Dr. Rene R. Escalante will open the modernized Museo ni Ramon Magsaysay in Castillejos, Zambales with Vice Governor Angel Magsaysay-Cheng as guest of honor on 12 December 2016 at 11:00 a.m.

Ramon Magsaysay served as President from 1953-1957 and was considered one of the outstanding leaders of his time. His simplicity, honesty, and respect for the dignity of others endeared President Magsaysay to the masses. During his term, he initiated agrarian reform, constructed health centers for rural areas and made the Philippines a founding member of the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization in Manila on 8 September 1954.

The new museum narrates the life, career, and achievements of President Ramon Magsaysay through innovative exhibits and interactive technologies.

Other facilities include an audio-visual area and an e-learning room for NHCP’s online lessons on the history of the Philippines.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums and publications, and preserve the nation’s historical heritage.
