QUEZON CITY- In commemoration of the 125th birth anniversary of National Artist for Architecture Juan F. Nakpil, The University of the Philippines College of Architecture (UPCA) and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), in partnership with the Bahay Nakpil-Bautista Foundation, Inc., and ARC LICO, invite the public to the History, Theory and Criticism Lecture Series entitled “Juan Nakpil: Crossing the Gaps Between Tradition and Modernity” on 30 May 2024, Thursday, 3:00 p.m. at the Benito Sy Pow Auditorium, UP College of Architecture, Diliman, Quezon City.
The lecture will be delivered by renowned conservator and architect, Prof. Gerard Rey A. Lico, Ph.D., and Opening Remarks shall be delivered by NHCP Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo. The lecture will be followed by a guided tour of Nakpil’s work at the University of the Philippines Diliman campus. Admission is free.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
