Manila – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Metro Manila Museums, in partnership with the Local Historical Committees Network (LHCN) and the Department of Education – National Capital Region (DepEd-NCR) will hold a three-day training workshop on Local History and Heritage from 16 to 18 May 2024 at the NHCP Presidential Car Museum in Quezon City, the NHCP Central Office in Manila, and various NHCP administered museums in Bulacan.

The activity aims to capacitate Araling Panlipunan (AP) Education Program Supervisors (EPS) and teachers of the DepEd-NCR in the value and application of Local History and Heritage in strengthening the AP curriculum for public schools while highlighting the importance of history at a young age. The workshop includes lectures on the State of Local History in the country, marking of historic sites and structures, methodologies on local and oral history research, and special tours and exposure trips to the NHCP, National Library of the Philippines, and National Museum of the Philippines.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine history and heritage through its administration of national shrines, museums, research and publication, heraldry, conservation, and marking of historic sites and structures. (KKMO/HSED)
