KAWIT, CAVITE ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) together with the Municipality of Kawit, will spearhead the simple commemorative rites at the Museo ni Baldomero Aguinaldo, Kawit, Cavite on 27 February 2024, 8:00 a.m.
Mayor Angelo Emilio G. Aguinaldo will lead the flag-raising and wreath-laying rites. He will be joined by NHCP Chief of Historic Sites and Education Division Gina C. Batuhan, officials from PNP, Kawit Vice Mayor Edward R. Samala, Engr. Rey Victor S. Santos of the Municipality of Kawit, Department of Education (DEPED) District Superintendent of Kawit Rolando P. Talon, Ph.D., Kawit Councilor Rossell F. Arellano, Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP) – Kawit Post Gaudencio R. Enriquez, and Baldomero Aguinaldo’s descendants.
After the commemorative rites, Rev. Fr. Cedric R. Mendez, Parish Priest of the St. Michael the Archangel Parish will bless the tomb of B. Aguinaldo. The NHCP will also open an exhibit titled, “Iconic Heroes of the Revolution: Kababaihan,” featuring Filipino women who joined the revolution for independence.
Baldomero Aguinaldo is remembered for leaving his law studies to join his cousin, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, in the revolution. He served alongside Gen. Aguinaldo as the Secretary of Treasury during the Republic of Biak-na-Bato, and the Minister of Wars and Public Works during the Revolutionary Government of 1898.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
