KAWIT ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) together with the Municipality of Kawit will unveil the “Kawit” historical marker on 31 August 2023, 1:00 p.m. at the Dambanang Emilio Aguinaldo, Kawit, Cavite.

NHCP OIC-Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo will lead the unveiling of the “Kawit” historical marker. The marker states:

 

KAWIT
LANDAS NG PAGKABANSANG PILIPINO, 1898

                               SAKSI ANG POOK NA ITO SA PAGKABANSA NG PILIPINAS, ANG KAUNAUNAHANG REPUBLIKA SA BUONG ASYA. ANG PANANDANG PANGKASAYSAYANG ITO AY PINASINAYAAN SA PAGGUNITA SA IKA-125 ANIBERSARYO NG KALAYAAN AT PAGKABANSANG PILIPINO, 12 HUNYO 2023 – 23 MARSO 2026.

 

This is the first commemoration in the marking of around 100 sites along the path of Philippine independence and nationhood from Kawit to Palanan, and across the country, creating a memorial to be called “Landas ng Pagkabansang Pilipino” (Philippine Nationhood Trail).

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
