SAN JUAN CITY – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) will launch the exhibit “Open Secret: Glimpses of Folklore in Revolution and Resistance” at the Museo El Deposito, Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine, San Juan City. NHCP Chairman Emmanuel Franco Calairo, RAFI-Casa Gorordo Museum Curator Florencio A. Moreño II, and San Juan City Mayor Franciso Javier M. Zamora will open the exhibit.

The exhibit features black light artworks from the Casa Gorordo Museum and various artifacts from the collections of the NHCP Museo ng Katipunan and Central Office. It explores how folklore and indigenous belief systems formed an intangible part of our struggle for national liberation and nationhood. This exhibit was first launched by the RAFI last 9 May 2023 in Cebu City and will remain on display at the Museo El Deposito from 30 August until October 2023.

The project is part of the RAFI’s contribution to the 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence and Nationhood and to the Local Historical Committees Network (LHCN). It is an official event of 2023 History Month.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine historical heritage through the conduct of commemorative programs, research and publication, conservation, marking of historic sites and structures, and administration of national shrines and museums.
