MANILA – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), as lead agency for the Steering Committee for National Observances, in cooperation with the Department of National Defense and the City of Taguig will hold a commemorative program at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on 28 August 2023 for the Observance of National Heroes Day.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. will lead the commemoration as Guest of Honor with Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin, Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr., AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner, NHCP Chairman Emmanuel Franco Calairo, and Taguig City Mayor Ma. Laarni “Lani” Cayetano also taking part in the observance.

The Administrative Code of 1987, as amended by Republic Act No. 9492, designated the last Monday of August as National Heroes Day. This holiday serves as an opportunity for the nation to remember the sacrifices and contributions of all Filipino heroes and the bravery they exemplified for our people.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine historical heritage through the conduct of commemorative programs, research and publication, conservation, marking of historic sites and structures, and administration of national shrines and museums.
