MANILA – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Pilipinas HD Television Broadcasting, Inc. Both parties have agreed to produce historical documentaries that are focused on the collective promotion of Philippine history in using media as a platform. The move is also a part of the NHCP Chairman Emmanuel Franco Calairo’s strategic plan to boost the commission’s presence and awareness in the public with the use of social media.

The MOA gives Pilipinas HD Channel access to the archives and collections of the commission, including the NHCP’s expertise and authority on Philippine history. For their part, Pilipinas HD will give 8-12 hours of broadcast time on their platform to the NHCP. Collaborations between the two agencies will produce quality films and factual documentaries on the Filipino people’s history and heritage.

Pilipinas HD is a free-to-air television channel that broadcasts and streams historical and cultural programs. It can be accessed through various social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine historical heritage through research and publication, conservation, marking of historic sites and structures, and administration of national shrines and museums.
