NAGA CITY, CAMARINES SUR – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) will join the Naga City Government in commemorating the 11th death anniversary of Jesse Robredo with wreath-laying rites at the Eternal Gardens Memorial Park, 75 Balatas Rd, Naga City on 18 August 2023.

In line with this, the NHCP Museo ni Jesse Robredo, Salingoy Art Group and the Naga City People’s Council will conduct an art exhibit and art fair entitled ‘Rambong: Bikol Artists in Bloom’ on the same day. The Rambong exhibit is a group art show to be participated in by artists from various collectives and art groups from Naga, Calabanga, Rinconada and other towns in the province of Camarines Sur. The exhibit aims to showcase the best and brightest visual art talents in Naga City and the region.

Event guest speaker is Baguio-based, National Artist of the Philippines for Visual Arts, Benedicto Cabrera or more popularly known as ‘BenCab.’

The Museo ni Jesse Robredo pays tribute to the exemplary life and legacy of good governance of the late Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary. Robredo was an ordinary public servant who championed good governance. His participatory approach to government and simple lifestyle made him stand out among many politicians and have earned him accolades in the international community. Best known for his “Tsinelas Leadership,” which signified his sincerity and humility as a leader, Sec. Robredo died on August 18, 2012, when the Piper Seneca light aircraft he was traveling in crashed off the coast of Masbate Island. His ashes are entombed at the Eternal Gardens Memorial Park in Naga.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine historical heritage through research and publication, conservation, marking of historic sites and structures, and administration of national shrines and museums.
