The National Historical Commission of the Philippines-Museo ni Manuel Quezon (NHCP-MMQ) in coordination with the NHCP-Museo at Aklatan ni Diosdado Macapagal (NHCP-MADM) will conduct a collateral special exhibit entitled “The Presidential Standard: The Flag of the President of the Philippines,” in line with the celebration of the 145th Birth Anniversary of President Manuel, Quezon.
The Presidential Standard is the flag that is used as a symbol of the head of state or president. It is displayed in official Presidential portraits, state funerals of deceased presidents, and diplomatic visits.
The Presidential Standard was first presented during the term of President Manuel L. Quezon as President of the Commonwealth in 1935. Through the years, Executive Orders were proclaimed to enhanced the coat of arms, seal, and flag of the presidents and vice presidents of the country. The most recent is Executive Order 310 s. 2004 by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
The exhibit will put emphasis on the Presidential Standard, flag’s history and evolution, and the significance of its elements associated with the Presidency.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine history and heritage through its administration of national shrines, museums, research and publication, heraldry, conservation, and marking of historic sites and structures.
