Taal, Batangas – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) will lead the wreath-laying ceremony in commemoration of the 72nd death anniversary of Galicano Apacible on 22 March 2021, 8:00 a.m., at the Museo nina Leon at Galicano Apacible.

The commemorative event will be limited to few attendees due to the IATF rules on social gatherings. The public is invited to visit the NHCP website and official Facebook page for the details of the event.

Galicano Apacible was born on 25 June 1864 to Vicente Noble, and Catalina Castillo. A dedicated doctor and propagandist, Galicano co-founded the La Solidaridad and served as the organization’s first president. He became the chairman of the Comite Central Filipino in Hong Kong during the revolution and the war against the United States, entered politics after the war and was appointed as secretary of agriculture and natural resources in 1917. He retired from politics in 1921 and lived a civilian life until his death in 1948 at the age of 84.

NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine History through its museums and publications and preserve the nation’s historical heritage.
