Castillejos – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and the Local Government of Castillejos, Zambales will conduct a wreath-laying ceremony in commemoration of the 64th death anniversary  of Ramon Magsaysay  with Castillejos Mayor Eleanor D. Dominguez, Vice Mayor Rizal Salih Jr., former governor and representative of the Magsaysay clan Angel Magsaysay-Cheng, and NHCP-Museo ni Ramon Magsaysay Curator Noel Gaton  leading the ceremony on 17 March 2021, 8:00 a.m. at the Museo ni Ramon Magsaysay.

A holy mass dedicated in his memory will be offered at the Carmelita Church in Brgy. Looc, Castillejos, Zambales at 7:00 a.m.

Guests will strictly observe social distancing and minimum health protocols provided by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases’ guidelines.

Ramon Magsaysay was a schoolteacher in Iba, Zambales. He led a guerilla movement in Luzon during World War II and was appointed military governor of Zambales after the war. He was appointed secretary of defense by then President Elpidio Quirino on 31 August 1950 and became the third president of the third republic of the Philippines in 1953.  He died of a plane crash at the age of 49.
