The National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Municipal Government of Bulakan, and Provincial Government of Bulacan spearheaded the wreath-laying rites for the commemoration of the 171st birth anniversary of Marcelo H. Del Pilar at the Marcelo H. Del Pilar Shrine, San Nicolas, Bulakan, Bulacan on 30 August, 2021 at 8:00 a.m.

Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando led the wreath-laying ceremony and were witnessed by Bulacan Vice Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Bulacan First District Representative Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado, Bulakan Mayor Vergel C. Meneses, PltCol Dominador Ignacio, Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons SW Angelo de Leon, National Press Club representative Paul Gutierrez, Bulacan Press Club representative Omar Padilla, CLMA representative Carmela Reyes-Estrope, Integrated Bar of the Philippines representative Atty. Joseph Inocenio, Department of Education representative Dr. Priscilla Navarro, and Sangguniang Bayan ng Bulakan.  

The event was attended by few personalities adhering to the IATF rules on social gathering. The public was invited to visit NHCP website and official Facebook page for the details of the event.

Marcelo Del Pilar was born on 30 August 1850 to parents Juan Hilario Del Pilar and Blasa Gatmaitan in Bulakan, Bulacan. In 1882, he established the Diariong Tagalog and wrote various anti-clerical pamphlets such as Dasalan at Tocsohan and Cai-igat Cayo. He joined Jose Rizal and other Filipino expatriates and initiated the Reform Movement against Spanish colonial rule.
