Taal – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) together with the Local Government of Taal, Batangas will lead the commemoration of Leon Apacible’s 156th birth anniversary on 25 October 2020, 8:00 a.m., at the Museo nina Leon at Galicano Apacible.
Simple commemorative rites will be spearheaded by curators and staff of the Museo nina Leon at Galicano Apacible (MLGA) and Museo nina Marcela Marino at Felipe Agoncillo (MMFA), and councilors from LGU-Taal.
The commemorative event is not open for public viewing and the general public is highly encouraged to visit the MLGA’s facebook page for the updates of the event.
Leon Apacible was born on 25 October 1861 to Vicente Noble, and Catalina Castillo. A lawyer by profession, he became a general and the right hand of Gen. Miguel Malvar in their campaign against American forces. He was then appointed as finance officer of Batangas by then President Emilio Aguinaldo, and representative of Lepanto in the Malolos Congress.
NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine History through its museums and publications, and preserve the nation’s historical heritage.
